Two Part-time 18 Hours Per Week Positions Open
1) Schedule: Mondays 9:30am-1:30pm, Tuesdays 9:30am-1:30pm, Thursdays 12-5pm, Fridays 9am-2pm
2) Schedule: Mondays 4:30-8:30pm, Wednesdays 2-7pm, Thursdays 3:30-8:30pm, Saturdays 1-5pm
Are you curious about new technology and helping people learn how to use it? We are looking for self-motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic individuals to provide friendly assistance to patrons using the technology area on the lower level. Help troubleshoot equipment throughout the Library, plan and execute technology, maker programs and other training. As a member of the Digital Services Department, you would be part of a collaborative team that works together to deliver exceptional technology assistance to the library community.
Duties include…
- Staff the Tech Desk and Maker Space
- Provide instructional guidance for patrons using public computers, printers, copiers and fax machine
- Assist patrons and staff with technology and online resource questions
- Develop and deliver dynamic programs and training classes
- Provide assistance using recording, editing and digitization tools in our digital media lab
- Provide assistance setting up, taking down, and troubleshooting equipment in our Maker Space
The ideal candidate has…
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred, high school diploma or GED required; excellent customer services skills; ability to work well within a team and be adaptable to change; ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; interest in and knowledgeable about technology including maker technology and mobile technology; ability to troubleshoot technology issues calmly, patiently and effectively; enthusiasm for learning new technology skills and a passion for emerging technology; ability to communicate and work effectively with the public and all levels of library staff with tact and diplomacy.
Preference given to qualified applicants who are bilingual in English and proficient in Arabic, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish or any of the other 30 languages spoken in the homes of the patrons we are happy to serve.
