Free Little Pantry Comes to Niles-Maine District Library!

Food mini pantry

In partnership with Coming Together, Niles-Maine District Library is proud to host a Free Little Pantry for anyone in need of food. Coming Together is a partnership in Niles Township among organizations in Niles, Skokie, Lincolnwood, and Morton Grove. Each year, Coming Together highlights a different topic, with an emphasis on literacy, cross-cultural awareness, and community-building. Reaching out to neighbors and providing new access to food for those most in need is the focus for 2021.

You’ll find the Free Little Pantry in the southwest corner of the front vestibule, just under the television.

Everyone can access the pantry during the Library’s open hours:

Monday – Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

We are accepting donations! Drop off shelf-stable food items that fit inside the pantry like canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, rice, cereal, and tuna fish any time we are open. Please leave only non-perishable food items. Drop off non-food donations like toiletries at Niles Family Services, at 999 Civic Center Drive.

We encourage teens looking for volunteer hours to contact us at teen@nileslibrary.org for details on how they can earn service for collecting and delivering food and organizing the pantry.
