No Contact Holds Pick-Up
Safely pick up library materials with the No Contact Holds Pick-Up service. Open to all active library cards by appointment only. Please read the "How Does It Work?" section before heading over to the Library.
How Does It Work?
Do you know exactly what you want to reserve?
Log in to the online catalog here and place a hold. You must have an active library card to access your account and place a hold.
Do you need help picking out materials?
Call the following phone numbers and a library staff member will help you.

What happens after I place a hold?
Once you receive a notification via email, text, or phone that your hold is available, visit the Appointment Calendar or call 847-663-6662 to schedule an appointment.
Where do I pick up my holds?
As of November 16, 2020, the pick up location is inside the Vestibule in the main entrance of the building. Look for the blue signs. Find the brown bag with your pick-up number labeled on it. Please open the bags when you get home. If you have any questions about your holds, please call 847-663-6662.

When can I pick up books I’ve put on hold?
Once you receive a notification via email, text, or phone that your hold is available, visit the Appointment Calendar or call 847-663-6662 to schedule a pick-up appointment.
When will my materials be due after pick-up?
Most materials are checked out for 3 weeks; technology equipment may vary. Check your receipt for due date information.
What if I can’t make my appointment time?
Please call us at 847-663-6662 to reschedule.
Can I cancel my appointment?
Yes, you can log in to My Appointments using your reference number and last name or library card (if used when making the appointment) to view and cancel your own appointments. If you want to modify the pickup time, you will need to call the Library directly at 847-663-6662.
Can I pick up my holds that were showing up available while in quarantine on my account?
We will contact all patrons who had a hold available while in quarantine. Please wait for a library staff member to call you to schedule a pick-up appointment.
Should I clean my materials before I use them?
We don’t recommend using any disinfectant on library materials. Most materials have been untouched since mid-March. All materials returned will undergo a 3-day quarantine (Updated 10/26) before check-in processing.
Can I return materials?
Yes! Please return materials at the temporary location on the north side of the building. Look for the orange signs. All returned materials must be quarantined for 3 days (Updated 10/26). Materials will not be checked in until after the quarantine period.
Are you offering a service for reading recommendations?
Yes! What’s Next? is a new service where librarians provide personalized recommendations for books, movies, and more.
How do I sign up for a Niles-Maine library card?
Click here to fill out the online form and we will email you your library card number within 48 hours.
Can I drop off book donations?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept book donations at this time.
